We decided to visit C.A.L.M.
A Poppy. California's State Flower.
We were into all the spring color that was showing up.
My little bits were eager to show off their new shark's tooth necklaces.
Ashley found this little scrawny bit of color.
Poppies are everywhere here. They are so beautiful.
The turtle pond had only one frog to see.
Ashley was enthralled with the bees gathering their pollen from the flowers.
Can't say that I know what this purple is. But it's real pretty with the poppies.
The rattlesnakes were not up for a fight today. (When Ashley was little the rattlers would go crazy when she looked at them. Must be her voice.)
This Rosy Boa was determined to get out.
My kids just love reptiles...
Finally out of the Reptile House. These pretty things caught my eye.
This Stella Jay was causing quite a raucous getting this twig.
I found this baby turtle.
This little guy was having trouble getting over this dish.
This tortoise was in the same general area.
Ashley, pointing out the ducks.
Caleb pointing out an egg.
It's really cool to see the eggs just lying about.
Caleb went to investigate the little squirrel causing problems.
Ashley is explaining about animal poop being called scat. :)
She was excited to pet the donkey.
Caleb wasn't interested in the petting zoo.
Ash was kinda scared of these two goats.
I made Ash pose while we waited for Caleb to meet us... you can see him in the right corner.
The kids weren't too interested in the sleeping bears...
Especially since the last time they saw them, one was a cub.
The bobcats decided to do their exercises when we arrived.
They completely switched places for us.
Ashley said this was a kangaroo :) I couldn't help but laugh.
So I, in return, asked if this was a "boe" or a "duck"... think about it.
This little woodpecker was hard to photograph. You can't really see his red hair, but it's there.
I mentioned to Caleb that a good picture opportunity would be from that bridge...
So there he goes to pose for me...(sweet boy)
Such a trek just for a picture. 'Smile'
Sissy found the shortcut.
But we aren't playing nicely anymore.
But now we've seen the jungle-gym.
And what appears to be a spring.
Both kids love to climb...
But Ash is the bars girl.
Since her hands have so many calluses...
Found out today she thought they're called 'carousels'.
Then to their favorite part... the tunnel or cave.
Though we had to come up for air cause we were pooped.
